Nedzad Avdic was shot four times and left to die, but survived the Srebrenica massacre in Bosnia in 1995.
He told Sky News about the time him and others were taken away in trucks, and then taken in turns to be killed by an execution squad.
When his turn came he says he was taken to the side of a mass grave – he knew it was his time to die.
Thinking of his mother and how she would never know where he ended up, he said he just wanted to die quickly, with no pain.
