Fear descends over Hong Kong as first person to be charged under new law appears in court | ITV News

No time has been wasted in applying China’s new security laws in Hong Kong.

The first person to be charged since they were brought in only last week has appeared in court.

A 23-year-old man is accused of driving a motorbike into a group of police officers, while holding a pro-independence banner.

Britain’s response to the new laws – to allow 3 million Hong Kong people to come here – has been condemned by China’s ambassador to Britain as gross interference in China’s internal affairs.
