George Floyd service is told “pandemic of racism” led to his death – BBC News

An emotional memorial service has been held in the US city of Minneapolis, to remember the life of George Floyd, the 46-year-old black man, who’s death while in the custody of four white police officers has sparked days of protests across the US, and around the world.

A lawyer for Mr Floyd’s family, said his death was the result of a “pandemic of racism and discrimination.”

It comes as three of the former Minneapolis police officers, charged with aiding and abetting murder, appeared in court for the first time, not far from where the memorial service was taking place.
