Hong Kong protests: Holding hands for democracy

30 years ago, two million people from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined hands and made a human chain that stretched for 600 kilometres.

It was a show of Baltic solidarity and a demand for freedom, democracy and eventually independence from the Soviet Union.

Protesters have again been linking hands this time in Hong Kong in a show of defiance against another authoritarian communist state.
