Chickens, ducks, donkeys and a mini shopping village. Definitely not your usual prison – but HMP Foston Hall in Derbyshire is trying something different to help rehabilitate those serving time.
The women’s jail is running a unique project to build and run pop-up shops within the confine, aimed at preparing prisoners mentally to cope with normal life on release, and to gain the right skills to get employment.
