Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt traded blows on Britain’s departure date from the European Union in their first one-on-one television debate of the conservative leadership contest.
Mr Johnson accused his rival of being a “defeatist” for not setting a Brexit deadline, whilst Mr Hunt accused him of “peddling optimism”.
While both men agreed with a show of hands that they were confident the UK would leave the EU by this Halloween they clashed over tax for high earners and a third runway at Heathrow.
Sky’s political editor Beth Rigby listened to the debate and sent this report.
