The Mayor of London has urged the Prime Minister to put 10,000 police officers back on the streets to help deal with the knife crime crisis.
Officer numbers in the 43 territorial forces in England and Wales have fallen by 20,000 in the past decade.
Despite Theresa May arguing that there is “no direct correlation between certain crimes and police numbers”, the likes of Sadiq Khan, Cressida Dick and Sajid Javid have expressed that there in fact is.
