Leicester could be locked down amid ‘spike’ in coronavirus cases – UK COVID-19 update

The government has confirmed that Leicester could be the first city to go into a local lockdown over reports of a spike in COVID-19 cases.

The city is deploying additional mobile testing units in a bid to contain the virus, but some say the test results are not being provided quickly enough.

The Mayor of Leicester said there is ‘no guidance’ for how a local lockdown would work.
