Oceans campaigner Lewis Pugh calls for the public to cut down on plastic waste
Oceans campaigner Lewis Pugh has spoken about his 330-mile swim along the length of the English Channel from Land’s End and says he hardly saw any wildlife on his journey.
Following his Long Swim to highlight the plight of the world’s oceans, Pugh told the Conservative Party conference that the public should join in the effort to cut down on plastic waste in their own homes.
He praised the government’s call for a third of the world’s oceans to be protected by 2030, which was announced at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
