Pig-to-human heart transplants ‘possible by 2022’

Adapted pig hearts could be transplanted into human patients within three years, according to a pioneering British surgeon.

Sir Terence English, who performed the UK’s first successful heart transplant 40 years ago, believes the technique could eventually become mainstream – eradicating the need for human donors.
