Polluted river and sewers become water sources in Caracas

Venezuela’s power cut in Caracas means residents are drinking water from the polluted Guaire River as there is no electricity.

One resident Jose Perez explains he waited five hours for a tiny amount for him to take back.

He told Sky News “The sad thing about everything we are living through in Venezuela is the sadness of everything happening in our nation, the sadness of what is happening with all of the youth at this time – it’s not a life.”

Venezuela’s information minister said that the power grid was close to being restored.

Protests against the government of Nicolas Maduro are ongoing backed by the leader of the opposition Juan Guaido who remains under threat of a warrant for his arrest.
