At least 45 children were among the 321 killed in Islamic-State-claimed terror attacks across Sri Lanka, it was confirmed, as CCTV images showing one of the suicide bombers was released by police.
The extremist group claimed the attack via its Aamaq news agency and said the perpetrators of were “fighters from the Islamic State”, but offered no evidence to support the claim.
The claim came as the country’s prime minister warned that several suspects armed with explosives were still at large.
The death toll rose to 321 and 500 people injured in the near-simultaneous bombings across the country on Easter Sunday, with the UN children’s agency confirming that number includes 45 children.
