Support for Maduro in the slums remains despite shortages

A Venezuelan government militia has given Sky News rare access to a barrio in the country’s capital, as the political crisis in the nation continues.

The slums were the beating heart of the revolution under Hugo Chavez, and despite the majority of residents still living in desperate poverty and there was strong support for Nicolas Maduro.

Sky’s Stuart Ramsay was told by the people that life was ‘very hard to get by’.

One shopkeeper called Angela told him: “We often cannot find the food we need, and when we find the things we need they’re very expense. We have pull strings to survive, well, half survive.”
