The mother of three who escaped North Korea, twice | ITV News

“Kim Jong-un is not a comedy figure, he is a modern-day Hitler.”

Jihyun Park was tortured in one of North Korea’s many labour camps. Her uncle and father died of starvation during the famine that gripped the country in the 1990s. She escaped to China, but was sold into slavery, later arrested and taken back to North Korea. After being tortured and beaten, she escaped again, to rescue the son she had left with her abuser in China.

She now lives in Manchester, England with her husband and three children, but her brother is still in North Korea.
