The new Azuma train takes to the East Coast Mainline| ITV News

The new Azuma train, assembled in Newton Aycliffe, using parts from across the North East region, has been shown to the media before carrying passengers on the East Coast mainline.

But it won’t actually be in service in the North East for the time being because of a signalling interference issue.

The Transport Minister has promised that will be solved and the trains will travel to the north east and Scotland before the end of the year.
