Leukaemia: what is it, how to spot the warning signs and who is at risk?

Each year the Telegraph launches its Christmas Charity Appeal where we ask you, our readership and viewers, to help us support three charities with the incredible work they carry out all year round.

This years chosen charities are The Silver Line, Wooden Spoon and Leukaemia Care.

Leukaemia is an umbrella term for a type of blood cancer that has multiple sub-types. While it is often associated with children, the cancer is most likely to affect those over the age of 65; only seven per cent of cases are diagnosed in children aged 14 and under.
