John Bercow has been accused of bias by furious Brexiteer MPs, after rejecting a government bid to hold a meaningful vote on Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal.
The Speaker said it would be “repetitive and disorderly” to do so, sparking anger from many members.
“It is becoming remarkable how often you please one lot and not the other lot,” Sir Bernard Jenkin mused.
He added that he will hold a “hearing on the role of the Speaker” in light of “the experience of recent months”.
