‘Window is closing’ to stop coronavirus in US as cases pass 2.5m

The United States now has a quarter of all coronavirus cases globally, with cases surging in states that were first out of lockdown.

More than 125,000 Americans have died, a toll higher than in any other country in the world.

While members of the coronavirus task force have emphasised the need for people to wear face masks, the US President is still refusing to do so.
